The Year 2015 in Retrospect (Part 1 - Dolly things)

It's time for the year end retrospect. As I'll want to write about other things than dolls, this post will be divided in two parts to avoid it being too lengthy!

In this first part I'll look back at my doll-hobby-related things!
---

Taas on aika katsoa vuoteen 2015 ja ihmetellä mitä on ehtinyt tapahtua. Koska haluan kirjoitella muistakin jutuista kuin nukeista, jaan tämän postauksen kahteen osaan ettei siitä tulisi tolkuttoman pitkää!

Ensimmäisessä osassa pohdin enemmän nukkeharrastukseen liittyviä juttuja!

Spica's Christmas 2015

...is it hard to quess who is the favorite doll from my crew? :D Remy is just so adorable and photogenic, I can't help but photograph her a lot! (Do you play any favorites with your dolls/toys? Tell me about them!)

Christmas isn't over yet! To me it lasts all the way to Epiphany or the 6th of January! So I can still post Christmassy photos! But yeah, the main holidays are over.

---

...onko vaikeaakin arvata, kuka on suosikkini nukkejengistä?

Joten voin silti ottaa jouluisia kuvia! Vaikka ne suuremmat pyhät olisivatkin jo ohitse!

O Oriens - Towards the Light

As you have noticed, I haven't been able to keep up my Advent Calendar. I've been really busy during this December and too tired for taking doll pictures.
What has been a loss to my internet activity, has however been in favor of my spiritual growth and contemplation.

One of the things I meant to include in my Advent Calendar was the O-antiphons, or liturgical songs used in Vespers (evening prayer services) of the Roman Catholic Church and some other Western churches.
The O-antiphons are used specifically from December 17 to December 23, that is; during the last seven days of the Advent before Christmas. Little is known about their origin, but they date back the the Middle Ages. I am very interested in Medieval Christian mythology and symbolics so these antiphons are very intriguing to me, and they've been something that I've thought of and studied a lot about during this Christmas season.

---

Yksi asioista, joita olin ajatellut käsitellä joulukalenterissa on O-antifonit eli liturgiset psalmilaulut joita käytetään enimmäkseen Vespereissä (illan rukoushetkissä) roomalaiskatolisessa kirkossa ja muissakin läntisissä kirkoissa.

Happy Independence Day, Finland! - 06 Advent Calendar 2015

Today is the Independence Day of Finland! In my family, we've had the tradition to light two candles on each window. This tradition dates back to the 1920's when candles were lit in protest against Russian oppression.

---

Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää! Meidän perheessämme on ollut tapana sytyttää kaksi sinivalkoista kynttilää ikkunalle. Tapa juontaa 1920-luvulle, jolloin kynttilät sytytettiin protestiksi Venäjän sortovaltaa vastaan.

Krampusnacht - 05 Advent Calendar 2015

Whoops! I had other things to do and skipped a day! And you'll get the Nendoroid Noiz rant in a later post.
Today is actually Krampusnacht in some German-speaking countries so actually I should have taken a picture of a horned doll, to resemble the demon-like Krampus.
I made a Krampus-themed post in last year's Advent calendar.

We went to see Krampus the movie today with my friend. It twisted the legend of Krampus the devil who goes around during Christmas season, snatching naughty children in his sack and eating them later. In the movie, if you don't have the Christmas spirit, no one is safe, naughty or nice!

Although the plot is pretty simple, I really liked this flick. It took some classic Christmas movie themes and twisted them with flavors from horror movies. The concoction works really well in my opinion, although at times it feels like you are watching a Halloween-themed movie!
Also the visuals were really stunning, I especially liked how they had portrayed Krampus in both sound and vision, he was truly menacing and it sent shivers down my spine! Krampus' "helper elves" were also visually interesting, they looked more like some pagan worshippers! :'D

This movie brought the Finnish film Rare Exports to mind, but I actually preferred the way Krampus the movie handled the "evil Santa"-theme.
If you want to see a little different Christmas movie, I can definitely recommend this one!

**I edited the doll pics out of this post because they were horrible. :D I'll post them in Instagram where they might look a little better**

---

Oho! Oli tekemistä ja eilisen kalenteripostaus livahti välistä! Postaan siis Nendoroid Noiz-natinat myöhemmin.
Tänään itseasiassa juhlitaan Krampusnachtia Saksan eteläisissä osissa, joissakin paikoin Sveitsissä ja Itävallassa. Joten olisi oikeastaan pitänyt ottaa kuva sarvekkaasta nukesta pirumaisen Krampuksen mukaan.
Tein Krampus-aiheisen postauksen viime vuoden joulukalenteriin!

Noiz the Nendoroid Elf - 03 Advent Calendar 2015

Today we have a little mischievous elf on our Advent calendar! Noiz says hi from the top of a present pile!

Tänään luukusta paljastuu pieni mutta sitäkin ilkikurisempi tonttu! Noiz tervehtii teitä lahjapinon päältä!

Move Halloween Decorations Back in the Shelf and Put Christmas Decorations in the Front - 02 Advent Calendar 2015

Ok, I think it's safe to say Halloween is over for this year. No matter how much I like Halloween decorations, it's time for Christmas decorations to take their place!

I can no longer remember where I got this saying but it is so true: "Now it's time to push the Halloween decorations deeper to the back of the shelf and put Christmas decorations up in the front!" It definitely describes my decoration habits to a T. :D

---

Kuvaa ainakin minun koristelutapojani ihan nappiin. :D

Aobaca Meets Santa! - 01 Advent Calendar 2015

Ho Ho Ho! Guess who's been a good 'paca? ...well, not Aobaca, judging by the menacing expression on Santa's face...

Despite my lack of enthusiasm in the doll hobby lately, I've decided to try and keep an Advent Calendar this year as well just as I've done in the past three years. You can also read the earlier Advent Calendars from 2012 (Link to the first Advent Calendar Post of 2012), from 2013 (Link to the first Advent Calendar Post of 2013) and from 2014 (Link to the first Advent Calendar Post of 2014). There might and will most possibly be horrendous pictures and random stupidity behind the links, so you have been warned!

As you might remember from the past years, or will be reminded if you click the links above, I post random stuff on my Advent Calendars. This year it will most likely consist of cellphone shots as I don't have time or patience for anything that requires a lot of effort. I'll probably talk about all things that I like in general and might even add some memories from the Japan trip from last summer if I run out of ideas for Christmassy posts.

It will be undoubtedly be a bumpy sleighride, but I hope you will enjoy your trip together with the Spicasmagoria Advent Calendar 2015! Thank you and welcome!

Ho Ho Hooo! Arvatkaapa kuka on ollut kiltti alpakka? ...no ei ilmeisesti Aobaca ainakaan, Joulupukin yrmystä ilmeestä päätellen...

Vaikkakin on ollut hiukan innostuksen puutetta blogipäivitysten ja ylipäänsä harrastuksen suhteen, yritän tänäkin vuonna pitää jonkinmoista joulukalenteria, kuten olen sinnitellyt jo kolmen vuoden ajan. Voit lukea aikaisemmat joulukalenterit vuodelta 2012 (linkki kalenterin ekaan postaukseen), vuodelta 2013 (linkki kalenterin ekaan postaukseen) ja vuodelta 2014 (linkki kalenterin ekaan postaukseen). En mene takuuseen mitä kamalaa kuraa noiden linkkien takaa löytyy, joten teitä on varoitettu!

Kuten saatatte ehkä muistaa viime vuosilta, postaan paljon kaikkea randomia joulukalenteriini.
